French Valley AYSO COVID-19 Response

In light of the COVID-19 virus, we are suspending all practices and postponing all games through March 27, 2020. We will make a decision about activities scheduled for March 28th and beyond as new information comes to light during the next two weeks.

Our Region is under the direction of the AYSO National office and we’re also directly affected by Valley-Wide Recreation, the provider of our fields. The decisions they make in the coming weeks will affect our actions going forward. Rest assured we are in close communication with both organizations. As their decisions are made we will determine how our Region is affected and will, in turn, communicate this to you as quickly as possible.

The health and well being of our players, families, and volunteers is our top priority. As more information becomes available, we will continue communication with our families and volunteers. We advise all families and volunteers to take precautions during this time. Please follow all instructions from the CDC and Riverside County Health Department. I would also like to share the following information and resources that were sent out by the AYSO National Office:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow the CDC's recommendations for using a facemask.
    • CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
    • Face Masks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

For AYSO specific events, we also recommend that instead of end-of-game handshakes, you do fist bumps or elbow to elbow and please remind your players not to share their water bottles or snacks with each other.

Additionally, here are a number of different resources and communications from the CDC and other organizations regarding the Coronavirus:

CDC - Coronavirus Overview CDC - Travel Recommendations (China) CDC - Frequently Asked Questions CDC - Travelers Health WHO - Advice for Coronavirus U.S. Department of State - Country Specific Travel Information USOPC - Coronavirus Update

We thank you for your patience and support of AYSO 1508.

Sincerely,

Cecilia Calvo
